Should Major League Baseball adopt a mercy rule?

Last week, the Cleveland Indians pummeled the New York Yankees 19-5 in the Bronx.

It got so bad that the Yankees had to bring out their first basemen to pitch for an inning. He didn’t help the team’s cause. Mike Ford gave up five more runs to make the deficit even worse.

After the game, manager Aaron Boone said he thinks the MLB should have a mercy rule for situations like this.

This is coming from a guy that’s managing a team on pace for at least 100 wins this season. It might be different hearing from Ron Gardenhire and the Detroit Tigers who have taken a beating all season.
