University of Michigan’s ‘The Victors’ Named Best Fight Song Ever

The University of Michigan’s “The Victors” has been named the best fight song in the history of college sports.

Sports Illustrated, which released its list of top college fight songs on Wednesday, says the song “perfectly embodies the maize and blue.” It notes that former president Gerald Ford, a Michigan alumnus, often instructed the Naval band to play “The Victors” instead of “Hail to the Chief.”

Finishing second on Sports Illustrated’s list is Oklahoma’s “Boomer Sooner.” Tennessee’s “Rocky Top” is third, followed by Notre Dame’s “Victory March.” And Wisconsin’s “On Wisconsin” rounds out the top five.
