Red Wings trade for Lightning forward Adam Erne

Steve Yzerman makes another move in his first offseason as the general manager of the Detroit Red Wings.

Detroit has traded a fourth-round pick for forward Adam Erne from the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s a move that makes sense considering Yzerman was the GM in Tampa for many years before coming back to Detroit.

Erne had seven goals and 13 assists in 65 games last season with the Lightning. He was a second-round draft pick by Tampa Bay back in 2013.

Erne is still just 24 and can earn a bigger role in Detroit if he can prove his worth to head coach Jeff Blashill.
