Brett Favre’s Instagram account hacked, says he’s coming out of retirement

It turns out news of Brett Favre’s plans to come out of retirement so he could rejoin the NFL have been greatly exaggerated. The football legend says the announcement was the work of a hacker.

The sports community was totally upended Tuesday afternoon after a post turned up on the 49-year-old’s Instagram account. Alongside a pic of the ex-quarterback at Super Bowl XXXI was the caption, “A true champion sticks to his or her calling. I will be coming out of retirement and making my return to play in the NFL for the 2020 season.”

Although the post was deleted minutes later, it was up long enough to get people talking — some applauding Favre’s courage for returning at his age, others questioning the soundness of his decision.

Finally, TMZ got a hold of the football giant to get to the bottom of the story — and Favre said his only plans for the immediate future were to determine who hacked his account and made the bogus announcement.

Would you like to see Brett Favre really come out of retirement? He recently said he still throws as well as he used to. Do you believe him?
